HBG Properties has won planning permission for its £13m St Peter’s Square development in Stockport. Designed by HKR Architects this pioneering development situated opposite the Hat Works museum on Wellington Road South, will change the perception of the office market in Stockport, bringing the first modern, large floor plate, high specification Grade A accommodation to the town centre. HBG will start construction on the 49,000 sq ft building in the New Year with completion scheduled for spring 2009. It is the only speculative office scheme in the town centre with planning permission and will be the first to come out of the ground as part of the council’s wider £1bn “Future Stockport” regeneration initiative. The scheme is an integral element of the redevelopment of St Peter’s Square into a new public square and cultural quarter. The four/five storey building will feature cutting edge design and provide single column-free floor plates of 12,000 sq ft with 2,700 sq ft of restaurant/showroom space opening onto a newly pedestrianised Hooper Street with a frontage onto the A6. The high quality of finish, impressive double height entrance reception, flexible air-conditioned space and secure parking will certainly set a new standard for the town. Clive Perrin, regional director with HBG Properties said: “Most of the Stockport office stock is of 1960s and 1970s vintage, expensive to maintain and operate and just looks very tired and dated now. But Stockport is home to numerous substantial professional firms and public and private companies and they deserve a better choice. It is about time they had the opportunity to occupy top quality office accommodation of a standard now commonplace in Manchester city centre and elsewhere around the North West. This building will provide premium quality workspace and attract premier occupiers to Stockport.”
The development will be designed by the Manchester office of award winning Architects HKR. |
