Greig and Stephenson Architects have submitted a planning application to regenerate the area around London's Borough Market. The architects have come up with plans for a retail, office and residential area adjacent to the famous food market in southeast London, via a new pedestrian route. It will involve opening up a footpath beneath the surrounding railway arches and revamping the Hop Exchange, a Heritage-listed building located on the fringes of the market. The plans would see the galleried trading hall at the Hop Exchange transformed into a large glass-roofed public atrium to include retail, restaurants and bars while three further floors would be devoted to office space and a residential extension. |
