Go ahead for Birmingham New Street station
Thursday, 04 February 2010
£600m plans to transform Birmingham's New Street station have been given the go-ahead from the city council’s planning committee.

Once work starts on the gateway scheme later this year it will create up to 1,000 new jobs.

The revamped station will include a concourse more than three times bigger than the current one topped by a light-filled atrium, more accessible and clearer platforms and a new facade.

The scheme is expected to be finished in 2015.
