The KPIs are national data sets against which a project or a company can benchmark its performance. The KPIs are an initiative from the Department of Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and the initial survey process is currently carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The data is collected each year from national surveys covering the construction industry and its clients. The KPIs are published by Constructing Excellence on the KPIzone website (www.kpizone.com) which is updated each June with data collected from the previous year.

According to Graham Sharp, head of construction statistics at ONS, “Glenigan hold the definitive register of active clients and contractors in the construction industry that is maintained using robust research processes. Through continual tracking of the progress of construction projects Glenigan hold timely data that will improve the KPI survey process. Awarding the contract to Glenigan will ultimately increase the value of the KPIs to the industry.”
