A primary school in Northumberland will officially open tomorrow after it underwent a £1m revamp led by the county council and its partner Gleeson Building. Beaconhill is one of the first primary schools to officially open in Northumberland in over 30 years. The school has been refurbished and extended after the green light was given to move to a primary and secondary system of education in Cramlington. It received new administration facilities, new roof coverings, and a complete internal refurbishment. The work cost over £1m as part of an overall £27m investment in Cramlington under the Putting the Learner initiative. The work was delivered under Northumberland County Council's Property Framework Partnership with Gleeson Building. Bill Law, framework director for Gleesons Building said: "We are very happy that Beaconhill project went so well with a satisfied client. It is always especially pleasing to see our site staff praised for doing a good job. It can be difficult working in a 'live' school environment but by working closely with the staff and pupils it can be a rewarding experience for all concerned.”
Beaconhill Primary School will officially open at 2pm on Thursday 29 November. |
