Jim Gibson has been appointed to the post of Chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Scotland.

He replaces outgoing Chairman John Duff.

Gibson is managing director of Harvey, Donaldson & Gibson, the Scottish subsidiary of Countrywide Surveyors.

He was Vice Chairman of RICS Scotland.

He said: “Being elected as Chairman of RICS Scotland is a great honour. We face many challenges in the industry at present and as Chairman I will work closely with RICS Scotland to make every effort to support my fellow professionals through this period.

“From my perspective as a residential surveyor, we will look to support any developments which might help to kick start the housing market. The Home Report is also something I hope will continue to have a positive impact on the market.”
