Construction and house-building group Galliford Try has agreed to buy the residential development assets of Hull-based homebuilder Wright Homes out of administration.

Galliford Try will buy five housing sites in the Hull and York areas for £7m from the administrators of Wright Homes.

The sites total 147 plots, of which 18 are complete and 63 are at an advanced stage of construction, and on which the value of the building works completed has been assessed at £6m.

The business went into administration in February after it was unable to obtain a restructuring agreement with its bankers.

Galliford Try will manage the sites from its regional house-building office in Grimsby.
