Fatality on Morgan Est site E-mail

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating after a worker died last week after falling down a manhole on a Morgan Est site in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

The man, fell 10m down into a storm drain while working on a holding tank at the Lyme Green Business Park which was developed by Orbit Developments. Despite rescue efforts, paramedics were unable to save him.

Morgan Est was carrying out waste water works on the site for United Utilities.

The contractor's safety team is working closely with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the cause of the accident.

A Morgan Est spokesman said: “Safety is paramount at Morgan Est and we are greatly shocked and saddened that such a tragedy should have happened..”
