A plan by property developer Cala Management to redevelop a 100 acre site in East Dunbartonshire is now in doubt after councillors voted 15-5 against awarding it outline planning permission. The application was to build 550 homes, offices, sports facilities, a rail halt, park & ride, cycleways and walkways on a 100 acre site covering parts of Bearsden and Milngavie. Councillors visited the site then heard presentations from supporters and objectors at a public hearing attended by around 250 local people before rejecting the masterplan. Cala now has a right of appeal to the Scottish Government against the Board's decision or another option is to submit a revised application. |
