Friday, 29 August 2008

A public inquiry into plans to build a 50,000-seater stadium for Everton Football Club is to be held in Kirkby, it has been announced.

The public inquiry is due to start on November 18.

The £400m development will see Everton Football Club move to a new stadium out of Liverpool into neighbouring Kirkby. It also includes a Tesco superstore, and a leisure centre.

A 25-strong Knowsley Council planning committee approved the plan in June, however, the Communities and Local Government Minister Hazel Blears and the Government Office North West did not back the project.
