Credit crunch delays Liverpool FC stadium E-mail
Friday, 29 August 2008
Progress on Liverpool FC's new £400m stadium at Stanley Park appears to have slowed down as owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett look for the most cost effective method to finance the scheme.

Enabling work on the stadium project which will be built by Laing O'Rourke has already started.

However, the credit crunch has meant that while finding the money to finance the scheme might not be a problem, finding it a  the right price may take longer than anticipated as fewer lenders are in the market.

The  club has issued a statement which said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such wor  on the project will be delayed in the short term."
