Detailed plans for a £100m redevelopment of a Cornish golf course, transforming it into a world-class resort, have been approved. Caradon councillors agreed to a revised plan for new access to the golf course, which will get a new four-star-standard 80-bedroom hotel, a refurbished clubhouse, 265 golf homes and upgraded and reconfigured golf courses. Councillors considered the change of entrance, the building of the hotel and refurbishment of the existing clubhouse complex, landscaping and changes to St Mellion Golf Course in South East Cornwall. The redevelopment aims to bring the European Tour golf competition back to St Mellion and the estate's golfing, leisure and accommodation facilities are being upgraded in time for this to happen in 2009. The resort will also contribute £220,000 to local highways projects. |
