Kier, Rok and Galliford Try, have come under scrutiny by the Office of Fair Trading.

Kier Group, has confirmed, that it has been contacted by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), as part of its ongoing investigation into tender activity in the construction industry.

The OFT started its investigation into tender activity in 2004. It has written to the company about Kier Regional's conduct with respect to 20 tenders submitted between 2000 and 2005. However Kier has stressed that these tenders represent a very small proportion of the bidding activity of Kier Regional during that period.

Two subsidiaries within the Rok Group have received notices, in respect of a small number of tenders, which related to periods prior to their acquisition. Rok said it is reviewing its guidelines to ensure full compliance with the law.

Galliford Try has also confirmed it has recieved a letter regarding 17 tenders, submitted between 2000 and 2005. The tenders relate to part of its Building Division and represent a very small proportion of the bidding activity of the Division during this period.

All three companies are cooperating fully with the OFT in its investigation.
