Bovis consortium plans plastics recycling project E-mail

A Bovis consortium plans to recycle plastics into construction products using the revolutionary Powder Impression Moulding (PIM) process.

To fund the £1.2m project, the consortium has won a grant of £600,000 of public funding through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) led Technology Programme.

The products will be made from waste plastic sourced from the retail and construction sectors.

The consortium will recycle plastics that would normally be sent to landfill. The project will focus on reusable plastic containers for use in retail logistics and further development of site hoarding systems.
The project will use technology owner 3DM's PIM process to process the mixed plastic waste.

The two-year project aims to use up to 50,000 tonnes of waste.
