Mayor of London Boris Johnson has approved the £4.5bn regeneration of Brent Cross and Cricklewood in north London.

The project to create a new town centre around Cricklewood and Brent Cross will include 7,500 new homes as well as new schools and health facilities, a train and bus station, major improvements to highways and road junctions, six new bridges, cycle routes and open spaces.

Despite being approved by Barnet Council last November, developers of major strategic importance for the whole of London are referred to the mayor for scrutiny.

The local authority together with partners Hammerson and Standard Life Investments will develop the site over the next 20 years.
