Alliance & Leicester has been given planning consent for £20m redevelopment of the former Girobank headquarters in Bootle. The seven-storey administration block, which was built in 1968, will be demolished whilst the 22,000 sq m operations block and other buildings, including the external facades, will be refurbished and upgraded. The new site is specifically designed to be more environmentally friendly. External solar shading will reduce carbon emissions, conserving fuel and power and therefore reducing running costs. Work on the site which houses over 2,000 of A&L's business banking staff is expected to start in October. |
