Blackwall tunnel scheme up for grabs E-mail
Thursday, 02 August 2007

The £40 million project to refurbish the northern section of the Blackwall tunnel in London is being readvertised in the Official Journal of the European Union, after the first posting failed to elicit any real interest.

The scheme was first posted by Transport for London in the OJEU in January 2006 which claims that the the project was put on hold while a review was conducted to ensure best value.

The tunnel is renowned as one of the most congested stretches of road in the UK and is one of the areas for which Transport for London has examined the introduction of new "bridge and tunnel" tolls.
