Barratt and HCA to build Gloucestershire green village
Friday, 05 June 2009
Barratt Developments and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) have received planning permission to build what has been billed as England's first large-scale zero-carbon development in South Gloucestershire.

The Hanham Hall eco-village, designed by HTA Architects, will include 195 zero-carbon homes.

Barratt said it is the first large-scale development in England to be built to level six of the code for sustainable homes.

The development is part of the Carbon Challenge run by the HCA, the national housing and regeneration agency.

Construction work is due to start by the end of 2009 with the first homes expected to be completed by 2010.
