Aukett and SMC merger off E-mail
Friday, 12 October 2007

The proposed merger between architects Aukett Fitzroy Robinson and SMC Group plc has been called off after the pair, who signed heads of agreement in early August, failed to agree on the details of the merger.

Today Aukett issued a statement to the stockmarket which said:

"On 08 August 2007 Aukett Fitzroy Robinson Group Plc announced that it had entered into non binding heads of agreement relating to a proposed merger with SMC Group Plc and that the discussions were at an early stage.

The Company today announces that it has been unable to agree satisfactory terms with SMC for a merger and those discussions with SMC have ceased. "

The merger, had it gone ahead, would have created a listed practice with 38 offices and 900 staff.
