Three designs for the Ebbsfleet Landmark the so-called "Angel of the South" have been shortlisted.

They are by Daniel Buren, Richard Deacon and Mark Wallinger.

The £2 million Ebbsfleet Landmark will be the UK’s largest public art commission since Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North, according to its patrons, Eurostar, Land Securities and London & Continental Railways.

Wallinger proposes a giant white horse, Buren put forward the idea of a tower of stacked cubes and Deacon's design comprises a steel framework of 26 polyhedrons.

Stephen Jordan, chairman of the Ebbsfleet Landmark Project, said: “With such an outstanding range of proposals, it’s right that we now look carefully at the practical delivery of each and explore further funding options."
