A £10m scheme to transform a deprived housing estate in Merseyside has this week been revealed by Knowsley council.

The scheme would see Stockbridge Village rebuilt with a new community centre, library, swimming pool and gym, which is set to revitalise the estate which is home to around 2,700 households.

The council has said it hopes that a further £1m will be spent modernising the estates GP practice before the planned rebuild, which set for 2014.
