Pembrokeshire eco village wins planning battle E-mail

The inhabitants of an eco-village have been told they can stay in their environmentally friendly homes after a 10-year planning row.

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority has finally given the village the green light under its new sustainability policy.

The eco-warriors secretly built the village at Brithdir Mawr near Fishguard in 1993 and lived quietly for four years.

It was only discovered by chance during an aerial survey by plane.

The village deep in the Pembrokeshire countryside comprises eight roundhouses, along with lavatories, agricultural buildings and workshops.

Power is generated on-site, water is collected locally and three quarters of the villagers' income comes from working the land and from craft industries.
