Housing minister Yvette Cooper has confirmed that an ideas competition will be run to set design standards for ten new eco-towns.

No UK homebuilders have a climate change policy in place, according to research by environmentalists and social housing providers. The report ranked The Berkeley Group and Taylor Wimpey as the greenest housing providers, but was a stark warning for Galliford Try, Bloor Holdings and Gladedale Holdings.

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has welcomed the proposed funding of up to £200m from the EU to offset the £4bn of uninsurable damage to UK homes.
 
Scottish aggregate demand to rise E-mail

The demand for aggregate in Scotland is forecast to grow by an average of 1.17% a year until 2018 with recycled and secondary aggregates taking a 20% market share by 2012, according to new research published by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme).
