Mouchel has completed a strategic flood risk study for UK utility company United Utilities. The study – called 'Protection of Water Facilities from Flooding' – involved the assessment of 180 critical water supply assets in North West England during a six-month period. These assets, which are all at risk of fluvial or tidal flooding, included service reservoirs, water treatment works, pumps and boreholes. United Utilities commissioned the study in response to this summer's flooding across southern England, which caused £3 billion of damage to not only domestic properties and local businesses but also water supply infrastructure and flood defences. Mouchel will soon commence a similar study on approximately 300 of United Utilities' wastewater assets. |
