Transport Minister Rosie Winterton was in Sheffield today to announce that the Government has allocated £6.3m to Sheffield for repairs to the local roads and bridges damaged by the summer floods. Winterton also officially opened the final phase of the new Sheffield inner relief road, which has been built with £56.5m of Government funding. The road is designed to ease congestion in Sheffield city centre and provide more reliable journeys for local people.
The £6.3m flood repair money will allow Sheffield City Council to get on and repair two key routes into the north of the city. Further funds could be available depending on further claims from the council. |
