Dam to be demolished in flood fight E-mail
Friday, 08 August 2008

Contractors are to drain a reservoir and demolish a ruptured dam in a bid to end a major flood alert in Scotand.

Attempts to shore up the Maich Trout Fishery, near Lochwinnoch,  some 20 miles outside Glasgow, have failed and rain over the weekend could put homes, farmland and roads at further risk.

While most the UK basks in average weather for the time of year, parts of Scotland have been subjected to continuous downpour.

The A760 Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie road remains closed.
