The UK construction industry consumes more than 400 million tonnes of materials each year as well as generating over 100 million tonnes of waste. Around 30 million of this ends up at a landfill.
 
Wrap intends to deliver step-by-step guidance and support to construction companies to achieve this target. They believe that it can be achieved by organisations reducing the amount of waste generated, recycling waste and buying products/materials with recycled content.

The need for better practice will become even more important over the coming years as major projects such as the 2012 Olympics gathers pace.

WRAP’s head of construction, Dr Mike Watson said:
