Amec buys green consultant E-mail
Wednesday, 04 April 2007

Amec yesterday said it has bought environmental consultant Applied Environmental Research Centre (AERC).

The company said the acquisition will strengthen the position of its Earth and Environmental division in the UK environmental market.

Bob Bell, director of Amec Earth and Environmental, was responsible for the acquisition. He said: "AERC fits with our UK strategy of serving local clients, providing front-end services to other Amec divisions, and using in-country resource to service our international client base. The business will also boost our critical mass in the UK and strengthen our position in the waste industry where there is considerable demand for environmental expertise as the country's landfill capacity declines and industry searches for new waste disposal options."

AERC generated revenues of £2.3m in the year ended 31 December 2006, with net assets of £600,000.
