Yorke Construction has won an extension to its contract to build a £4m international sports arena.

The South West building firm has just secured an extension to its contract to build the international Equine indoor sports arena at Hartpury College.

The main arena measures 70m by 55m and the warm up arena is 30m2. The arena also provides judging facilities, a number of fully equipped classrooms and meeting rooms for training and lectures, and hospitality areas for event hosting.

Yorke managing director Richard Yorke said: " Winning this contract further endorses Yorke's ability to manage commercial and domestic projects, large and small, and that our company infrastructure and expert resources can support such contracts with success."

Completion is expected in June this year. It is expected that the international sports arena will become one of the most prestigious venues for the equine industry, and also the upcoming Olympics in 2012.
