An environmentally friendly development of 240 homes and apartments is set to go ahead at Oxley Park, as Milton Keynes Partnership announces that Taylor Wimpey will be the developer for sites two and three. All of the homes will comply with the Eco Homes Excellent rating including features such as solar lanterns and solar panels, grey water recycling and energy efficient ‘A’ rated white goods. The development will cater to wildlife with bird and bat boxes, as well as artificial refuges for mason bees and ladybirds. Compost bins will also be provided to encourage recycling of kitchen and garden waste. John Lewis, chief executive of Milton Keynes Partnership, said: “It is great news that Taylor Wimpey is showing a strong commitment to Milton Keynes. This development shows that house builders have confidence in the city and means that people who want to live here will continue to have a wide choice of high quality homes.” It is thought work will start on site this summer with the first housing completions scheduled for 2009.
Milton Keynes Partnership created in June 2004 is responsible for growth, development and investment in the new city. It is a sub-committee of national regeneration agency English Partnerships and brings together Milton Keynes Council, Local Strategic Partnership representatives from the health, community and business sectors and independent representation. |
