Skanska has secured a £68m contract to design and construct a brand new eight-floor office development in the City of London.

The company signed a contract to build 20 Gresham Street for developer Hermes Real Estate. The building will offer 21,000 m2 of lettable office space over eight floors plus basement level.

The project team includes City Offices as development manager and architect Kohn Pederson Fox. Waterman Partnership will act as structural engineer for the project and Hilson Moran will be its services engineer.

Work begins on site immediately, with completion set for September 2008.

Skanska commercial construction Operating Unit managing director Dave Shadwell said: “We are tremendously excited to have reached contract signature on this exciting development. It shows that by combining our core skills, we can offer a truly innovative solution to our client’s needs.”
