Laing O Rourke has been confirmed as the preferred contractor on major road improvement scheme to Junction 11 of the M4, funding for which was confirmed this morning. Following discussions with Laing O'Rourke Infrastructure - the chosen contractors for the project - Reading Borough Council have announced that work will begin next month in what is a significant landmark for the scheme. Improvements to the notorious Junction 11 bottleneck - including extra capacity, new facilities for public transport, pedestrians and cycles and a safer junction - have been planned for a number of years. They include constructing a four-lane motorway junction with two new strategic road bridges around the existing motorway junction. The existing junction will be used for public transport as well as dedicated pedestrian and cycle facilities. |
