Kent County Council has named the Land Securities consortium, which includes CfBT Education Trust as the education adviser, has been selected as the preferred bidder for the delivery of the first phase of its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The Land Securities Consortium, consisting of Land Securities Trillium, Northgate Information Solutions and CfBT Education Trust will now be responsible, in partnership with Kent County Council and Partnerships for Schools (PfS), for the delivery of the £600m first stage of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme to refurbish or rebuild approximately 40 schools and transform the delivery of education in Gravesham, Swale and Thanet by 2014. Neil McIntosh, chief executive of CfBT Education Trust said: “We are delighted to be part of this winning team. Kent County Council set us all a strong challenge of responding to its vision of new approaches to teaching that will support self-regulating, autonomous learners. It is truly a transformational approach to the delivery of learning and we are very excited to be supporting Land Securities and Kent in the delivery of its BSF programme.” Approximately £1.8bn will eventually be invested across Kent through the BSF programme to raise standards of achievement and teaching standards by providing first-class, inspirational buildings and ICT facilities which will also help to encourage high quality teaching. |
