The deal with Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council will see the joint venture design, build and operate a new facility at Sinfin Lane in Derby to treat municipal solid waste.

The facility will be capable of handling 190,000 tonnes of waste annually.

If the project is granted planning approval work is expected to begin in the spring of 2010, with the contract running for 27 years.
