Gleeson wins Birmingham construction contract E-mail

Gleeson Building has won a £18.5m contract to build a mixed use development building on a landlocked brownfield site in the heart of Birmingham. The project is a new build awarded by Taylor Wimpey-owned Bromsgrove Street to provide city chic apartments to first time buyers in the centre of Birmingham.

The property’s central location, within walking distance of the Birmingham Bullring and New Street Station, means the site is very restricted and is an island in the middle of four roads, taking up the whole of the footprint of the land.

Gleeson said it will handle the complex logistics of site access by closing one road and using land opposite the site.

The building will include eleven retail units and 189 residential apartments over six floors. It will include an impressive double height glazed entrance lobby with concierge and underground car parking.
