Galliford Try has been appointed preferred bidder on a £24m scheme to redevelop Edgbaston International Stadium for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

The firm will design and build a new stadium section, which will seat 8,250 spectators and replaces an existing section with a capacity of just under 5,000.

The stadium will be in continuous use throughout the construction of the new section.

Work on site is expected to start in March 2010 and completion is expected in July 2011.
