Costain wins nuclear contract

Costain has been awarded by Magnox South Ltd a framework contract for the delivery of Fuel Element Debris ("FED")Dissolution at Bradwell nuclear power station.

The framework is part of the station's accelerated decommissioning programme, with similar programmes at other MagnoxSites namely, Hinkley Point, Sizewell and Oldbury to be awarded.
The indicative value of the contract is £75m over ten years with possible extensions.
The contract is to design plant and equipment and to procure, construct, operate and refurbish plant prior to transfer tofurther sites.
Magnox South sites are currently decommissioning at the end of operational life and this framework is key to the saferemediation and disposal of FED produced during the generating life of the power stations.
