The contract will see the construction company upgrade major strengthening work to the existing viaduct at Junction 1 of the M53.

Design work will start this month and last for around 15 months, ready for construction to start in the summer of 2010, which will take around 20 months to complete. 

Wirral Council and Merseytravel will fund the project up to the value of £4.5m with the Government providing all further funding.
