A Clugston Construction joint venture has signed a £26m deal with Waste Recycling Group. The partnership with engineering, construction and environmental services company, Earth Tech, will design and build two new waste management parks in Central Berkshire. The deal forms part of the £600m, 25-year Private Finance Initiative (PFI) waste management contract between Reading Borough Council, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Wokingham District Council and Waste Recycling Group. Earth Tech and Clugston will design, build and commission the two waste and recycling centres, which will serve 160,000 households and manage over 200,000 tonnes of household waste each year. John Queening, general manager of Earth Tech’s Environmental Business Unit in the UK, said: “With sustainable waste management high on the public agenda, dozens of other local authorities are set to follow suit as they strive to meet new targets to reduce landfill and increase recycling and composting.”
