| Balfour Beatty takes Southwark BSF |

Balfour Beatty has been chosen as preferred bidder for the Southwark Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The £200m scheme will be carried out in three phases and cover thirteen school projects in the London borough of Southwark. All construction work on the project will be performed by Balfour Beatty subsidiaries Beatty Construction and Balfour Kilpatrick, while another subsidiary, Transform Schools, will be the leading supplier of Information and Communication Technology solutions together with educational IT specialist RM Group. Financial close is scheduled for the second quarter of 2009 with the first new schools opening in September 2010 and 2011. Balfour Beatty will invest £6m of equity in the programme. |
