Rok to expand in Midlands
Saturday, 17 May 2008

Building contractor Rok say it intends to press ahead with expansion in the Midlands despite market conditions.

Managing director Keith Watson said that more than 150 jobs could be created in the region as the company continues to grow.

Rok first moved into the Midlands when it acquired a maintenance business in Birmingham three and a half years ago and from this initial step it has moved rapidly, buying several more established businesses and now employing more than 360 people cross the West Midlands.

He said Rok was looking into the feasibility of setting up a training centre at its depot in Coventry Road, Warwick, which could create a further 120 apprenticeships over four years in a range of trades including joinery and plastering. Keith, who said he hoped to have the training centre up and running by September, added that it would help address the increasingly important issue of skills shortages in the industry.

Rok is also working with the Wolseley Sustainability Building Centre in Warwickshire, aimed at showcasing innovative products for ecologically sound practices in construction.
