| McAlpine shareholders back Carillion deal |

The formal backing of Alfred McAlpine shareholders to the takeover by Carillion has been given at an EGM yesterday. This follows the vote of Carillion shareholders to accept the deal.
As in the case of Carillion, McAlpine shareholders voted virtually unanimously in support. The last day of dealings in, and for registration of, transfers of Ordinary Shares is expected to be 8 February 2008 and, if the Acquisition becomes Effective on 12 February 2008, the listing of the Ordinary Shares on the Official List and the admission of the Ordinary Shares to trading on the London Stock Exchange will be cancelled on that date. |
