Balfour Beatty's first half profits have risen 25% and the company says it is confident that strong trading will continue throughout the rest of the year.
Pre-tax profit before exceptional items rose to £95m from £76m the year before. Sales for the six months rose to £4.3bn from £3.4bn previously. The company saw orders rise after its takeover of GMH Military Housing in the US and after it won civil engineering and maintenance contracts in Dubai. "Trading will remain strong throughout the year and that we will make further good progress in the second half of the year," the group said in a company statement. The period end order book stands at £12.1bn, up by 14% since 30 June 2007, and by 6% since the year end. |
