The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has appointed Harry Rich as its new chief executive.

He will take up his new post in October this year replacing outgoing chief executive Richard Hastilow CBE.

Hastilow will take on an ambassadorial role at the institute until his retirement in May next year.

Rich joins the RIBA from Enterprise Insight, a government-backed body supporting entrepreneurship in the UK, where he has been chief executive since 2007.

Before that, he held the position of deputy chief executive at the Design Council.
