Tube Lines has appointed Brian Sedar as its new director of projects. He succeeds Ian Copeland who led the Projects directorate since November 2005.
Sedar will have overall responsibility for delivering the large-scale improvement projects across the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines. He has 26 years of project management experience in procurement, cost controls, rail and construction. A Senior Vice President at Bechtel, he joins Tube Lines from the High Speed 1 project – formerly the channel tunnel rail link. As Project Director, Sedar led the large joint venture team of Arup, Bechtel, Halcrow and Systra to deliver section two of the high speed link from Kent to Central London, including the development of new Eurostar Depot, an underground domestic and two international stations, plus the historic renovation of St Pancras, all on time and within budget. Sedar said: “Tube Lines is enjoying great success delivering the challenging requirements of the PPP, making this an exciting opportunity. Despite already having brought in significant efficiencies to drive down and manage project costs the company refuses to get complacent, constantly seeking new ways to innovate and challenge old methods of working. This makes the company very attractive to work for and I look forward to helping build on Tube Lines’ achievements.”
Terry Morgan, Tube Lines chief executive, said: “I am pleased to welcome Brian into my team and look forward to seeing him take the Projects directorate to a new level by encouraging even further innovation into the way we do business. He brings with him a wealth of project management experience that makes him well suited to delivering major projects on time and within budget in a challenging environment.” |
