Eberlin will take over from Peter Weller who is due to retire from the end of February. Eberlin is currently the commercial director of Castle.

During his time as managing director, Weller developed the use of alternative fuels in the UK and helped Castle become the lowest emitter of carbon dioxide per tonne among UK cement producers.

Eberlin brings to the role over 13 years experience in the cement and aggregates industry.

Commenting on his promotion, Eberlin said: "This is a great opportunity to lead an excellent team of people. Our task is to serve our stakeholders in all aspects of our operations and to provide a fresh impetus for the future.
